Yakuza: Like a Dragon introduces a fresh start for the series, featuring a new protagonist, Ichiban Kasuga, a low-ranking grunt of a low-ranking yakuza family in Tokyo. After taking the fall for a crime he didn't commit and serving 18 years in prison, Ichiban emerges to find his former clan destroyed and his mentor seemingly betraying him. The game shifts the traditional brawler gameplay to a dynamic, turn-based RPG system, reflecting Ichiban's obsession with Dragon Quest.
